About Tourism Whistler
Tourism Whistler is the non-profit
member-based marketing and sales organization representing Whistler,
operating the Whistler Conference Centre, the Whistler Golf Club, and
the Whistler Visitor Centres, as well as 1-800-WHISTLER and whistler.com - Whistler's official source for visitor bookings and information.
Formed
in 1979, at the recommendation of the provincial government, Tourism
Whistler is responsible for promoting the resort as an international
destination with the goal of increasing overnight visitation.
Tourism Whistler represents more than 7,000 members who own,
manage and operate properties or businesses on resort lands including
hotels, restaurants, activity operators and retail shops.
Tourism Whistler established the Whistler Media House to
provide both accredited and unaccredited media with access to
Whistler-specific content as well as media support services during
Games time. The goal is maximize coverage of the destination by
assisting media with services ranging from technical (stand-up
locations, connectivity and editing services) to content-specific
(access to athletes and local personalities, story ideas, images and
B-roll).
Tourism Whistler's Communications Department works with travel
and news media representatives year-round to provide assistance with
media visits, story ideas, interview contacts, high resolution images
and information about Whistler.
